                                      But From the Lord…

As we begin yet another year I thought it important to emphasize a few key verses. Everyone is making plans, setting goals and aspiring to be bigger and better in 2014. While all of that is good there is something more important to realize. All throughout Proverbs 16 there is a common theme.

“To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the reply of the tongue.”vs1

“All a man’s ways seem innocent to him but the motived are weighed by the Lord.”vs2

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.”vs3
“The Lord works out everything for his own ends- even the wicked for a day of disaster.” Vs4

“In his heart a man plans his course but the Lord determines his steps.” vs9

No matter what we plan, what we say, or what we think, God will have His way. And His way is so much better than our way. Sometimes it is hard when things don’t go according to our plans but in the end it is for our good and God’s glory.

I am a planner by nature, I like to organize and control my environment (for the better of everyone, of course ;). My nature sometimes goes against God when I am fighting to have my way because I think it is what I am supposed to be doing. However whenever I am trying to control my situation I don’t have peace. When I follow God’s leading and surrender my plans and my will to His, I have peace in my life.

So don’t forget as we strive to set new goals for 2014 that no matter what, we are in the Hands of God. And sometimes our plans are not what God has in mind for us. Be at peace as we follow God’s will for us in 2014!
