Cold Prevention
This is the first year that Noah and I have NOT gotten colds. I am so very excited about this. We did several things differently than in the past and I thought I would share a few here.
First, we ate homemade chicken soup between 3-5 times a week. It gets old fast so I kept changing how I made it each time. Use whatever you have in the fridge. Mushrooms and peppers are great to throw in at the end (so they are not cooked too much) to add that extra immune boost! Both of these I cut up very very finely so they are hard to detect among picky eaters and they don't overwhelm the soup. Last note on this, there is no such thing as too much onions and garlic in Chicken soup so be generous.
Second, we took Vitamin Code Raw vitamin C everyday. This was a neat change for me because I had always taken "normal chewable" vitamin C but I decided this year to make the switch to raw vitamins. We also took Kyolic (Aged garlic extract with vitamin C, mushroom, and Astragalus in pill form) everyday. Those were the two we were faithful with over the "cold season". Also before trips we took Airborne, before and during visits with family and friends over the holidays.
Third, periodically I aired out the house, which means opening all the windows for about 15 mins. Which is pretty miserable because I hate the cold but I think this really helps. We also sleep with our bedroom window cracked open too, all through the winter. And every so often I disinfect all the door knobs, light switches, any main touchable surface with (with chemical-free cleaners).
I think this combination of changes made a big difference. Even though we came into a LOT of contact with sickness we managed to not catch it. Noah had a lot of exposure from work since most of his office got sick this year. As for me, I spent a lot of time babysitting sick children. I know we are not out of the woods yet but just thought I would share what is working so far.
God bless you all.

Hi Paulina!
ReplyDeleteTwo things that help our household are elderberry (every morning or more often if fighting something ) and olive leaf (a few times a day if fighting something). Both are great for your immunity and olive leaf is a natural infection fighter.
Blessings!
Becky
My family also uses Elderberry! But I had never heard of Olive Leaf, I will have to check that out! Thank you so much! :)
