5 Reasons Christian Women Need To Stop Complaining

When you look at our American culture it is not hard to see that we all think we are over worked, over tired (and my all time favorite) over Stressed! Scrolling though social media you can see a large variety of complainers. The teenagers who think there life is so hard because of drama and school. Singles who are exhausted from not making life decisions and not finding love. And yyoung married moms who had their first baby that destroyed their body and life. Complaining is everywhere and it needs to stop.

The Bible tells us to stop complaining!  Philippians chapter 2 is filled with what we should and should not be doing as followers of Jesus Christ.

Imitating Christ’s Humility

"2 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature[a] God,
    did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
    being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
    he humbled himself
    by becoming obedient to death—
        even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Do Everything Without Grumbling

12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.”[c] Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. 17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. 18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me."

1. When we complain our eyes are turned off of God and onto ourselves. It is clearly written "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. " What are your motives for serving your family? For going to work? For cleaning up messes and getting up in the middle of the night? When we are serving our families, wiping running noses, cleaning up after toddlers, this should all be done as if done for our Lord. If we were chasing Jesus around the house and cleaning up after him, would really start complaining at the end of the day how exhausted we are??? Maybe we are serving our families with the wrong motives. Maybe we are trying to get recognition for all our hard work by complaining about it all. But Jesus taught in Matthew that whatever we do for the least of these we do for Him.

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

2. We really don't comprehend how easy we have it here in America. I thank the Lord daily for my washing machines! Can you imagine what life would be like having to wash ALL your family's laundry by hand! That really would be exhausting! Or having to grow and process ALL of your families food! Jesus came to earth to be our perfect example. The example He set for us what that of a servant. "he made himself nothing by taking the very nature[b] of a servant, being made in human likeness." We can conclude that we are to be following that example in servitude, in meekness and graciousness.
3. God does not give us trials or work that we cannot handle. He gives abundant grace to those that are in need. And when people complain about trivial life it is as if they are complaining against God and his purpose for them. This is a grave matter that needs to be taken seriously. For God works all things for good for those that love him and that are called according to his purpose! "for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose."

4.
"So that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation." What a great reason to watch what we say and how we say it. We live in a world that is obsessed with "Self" and what better way to show the world Christian behavior by not complaining so that we may be blameless and pure. People are always watch and wanting to find fault with Christians and we are human and still fall prey to sin but the Holy Spirit can make us righteous and whole.

5. The way we live, raise our family, and communicate to the people around us sets an image. What image are you displaying. When we stop complaining the Bible says we will be so set apart we will Shine like stars in comparison.
"Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life."
A woman serving joyfully, humbly, full of strength and determination is a Beautiful and rare thing in our culture. We need to encourage each other in the Word and hold each other accountable to following Christ's example for us. We need to Shine beautifully for the world to see the light of Christ reigning overall.

We have so much to be thankfully for. There are so many joys in raising a family or in doing a task well done. The trials that we bear and the work that we have been given to do, we have the choice to make it beautiful. What do you chose to do today?
